Implementation of the Sustainable Cities and Communities Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) in the European Union

The study addresses problems related to the implementation of goal aimed at making cities inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable—Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities Communities—based on example European Union countries. introduction attempts defining concept sustainable development, with particular emphasis its complex nature importance for future generations, including basic five dimensions. purpose is analyze present ranking individual Member States regarding level development measured by SDG 11. conducted research covered mostly period 2005–2020 included 28 Sweden was country that predominantly took leading position in terms 11 years 2010–2020; other leaders Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Czech Republic, Austria, Malta, Estonia. Romania most often ranked last position. Moreover, Finland Ireland were always among top 10. general conclusions allow it be stated situation space has been gradually improving.
